Define connection

See also: Creating a piping component

Menu access: Piping | Define connection

Description:

This function has to be used when creating a standard piping component.

A connection point allows to define the orifice characteristics of the component. It associates a coordinate system with a nominal diameter and a thickness.

General philosophy:

Before using the function, you must create two text (Tool | Text) for each connection (with different dimensions) you have to define:

  1. Select the coordinate system to use as connection (origin on the curve and XY plane normal to the curve) and name it.

  2. Select the text to use to define the connection diameter.

  3. Give a name to the text: it is this name that will be used in the catalog of the component to dimension the connection (the values of this column will have to be the same than the values of the column controlling the component diameter).

  4. Select the text to use to define the connection thickness.

  5. Give a name to the text: it is this name that will be used in the catalog of the component to dimension the connection (the values of this column will have to be the same than the values of the column controlling the component thickness).

Specific point(s):

You can edit the IN/OUT COORDINATE SYSTEM SET in which is listed all the connections you defined.

When you define an other connection with the same dimensions than an other one, you can select the same text as the other connections. In this case, the text has already got a name and it is not asked to you.
