Conception mode
The associative
mode is the natural design mode of the v6.3, where the system remembers
a maximum of information about the way each element is created, so it
is able to update it later.
In the free
design mode parts created in-place in the assembly are kept independent
one from another, which allows moving them freely. This mode is not available
in TopDraft.
Several parts may not share a section curve. If on extrudes a contour upwards and downwards, the contour will be automatically copied with all its history tree, to obtain the same result that would have been obtained if on had used the function "Edit | Copy" before doing the second extruded shape.
If one extrudes a contour passing on an edge of a part, a basic curve will be created to replace the edge in the contour, so that no reference to another part is kept in the history of the extruded shape.
If one defines a direction (of translation,...) or an axis (of revolution,...) by picking an edge of another part, this associative link will not be kept.
If the same tool is used within several Boolean operations with different parts, it will be automatically copied.
In the non-associative
curves mode, all the curves created are basic, surfaces, solids,
assemblies and drafting keep their associativity. This mode allows to
work with a lowest associativity level.
In the non-associative mode,
all the elements created are basic. This mode is recommended for repairing
imported data, before designing a tool around it in another mode (free
or associative). This mode is not available in TopDraft.
