Measure
Menu access: Dynamics | Measure
Description:
Allows to create measure sets for angles, positions, distance and kinetic energy.
During animation, it is possible to use one of these set to generate a text file or an Excel file containing a table of values calculated during the animation.
![]()
General philosophy:
Choose the measure type in the drop down list.
Name this value.
Select reference elements for this measure.
Choose the measure set in witch you want to insert this measure.
Available option(s):
You can choose between several measure
type:
KINETIC ENERGY : Measure the total kinetic energy of the mechanism.
ANGLE : Measure the angle between two axes/edge of two components. Measurement is always made on the acute angle, i.e. that beyond 180°, it is the value of the additional angle which is measured.
POSITION : Measure the position of a point witch is defined by its X,Y and Z coordinates compared to the absolute coordinate system.
DISTANCE : Measure the distance between two points
It can happen that you require to select points or lines like elements of reference for measurements. If these geometries do not exist "physically" on the part (center of a circular edge for example), you must create this element in the template file of the component and define it as an auxiliary element to be able to recover it in the assembly (see the function "Define auxiliary elements" for more detail).
The NEW
MEASURE SET button
allows you to create a new set in witch will be inserted the measure you
are creating.
The DO
NOT INSERT button
allows to create a measure without inserting it in any measurement set.
Then, it
will be possible to insert it in a measurement set (see chapter "Available
modification(s)")
Specific point(s):
It is possible to modify units in
the Tools | options menu
Available modification(s):
It is possible to add measures in
an existing measure set. For
that, make
a right click in the symbolic tree, on the chosen measurement set. Then
select the "modify" function which proposes a list of existing
measures. You can tick or tick off squares corresponding to measure in
order to insert or extract them from a set.
