Description :
Allows to locate on the drawing the part of bill of material, or to locate any other element using a specific kind of index.

General philosophy :
If there's no bill of material in the drawing, TopSolid/Draft begin to create one by proposing you to choose a template and position the bill of material table (see the Bill of material function).
If your drawing already contains a bill of material, adjust your index like describe below :
Pick an existing index with informations or choose the option NEW DEFINITION to create a new kind of index.
Choose the number
of text contained in the index and type your texts.![]()
Pick the element to locate.
Position your index (this question is not asked if you choose the AUTOMATIC positioning mode).
Available option(s) :
The index extremity type depend on
the picked element (point or curve).![]()
Once you have defined your index
with informations and created it in your drafting document, the MANAGE DEFINITION option which allows you to save
or delete a definition will be displayed when you will restart the function.
Then, saved index definitions will be displayed in a combo list.
Specific point(s) :
If you locate a part of the bill
of material, the index will be automatically inserted in your bill of
material table. Otherwise if you locate an other element, you will have
to insert it in your bill of material table.
When the "Allows
parts multi-indexing" option is ticked in Tools
| Options - Index - Attributes, you can create several indexes
of the same part in different view.
