Icon access: ![]()
Menu access: Part | Parting line | Create parting line
Description:
This command is used to create and manage the necessary parting lines that will be used to separate the cavity blocks.
We have to create closed parting
lines that will allow the separation of the part in 2 shells.
General procedure:
Select the function mode:
Reset, if necessary, the calculation tolerance. We will recommend to use the default value.
Set the silhouette curves. We will recommend to let this option to NO if the part is not a revolved or free form.
Select priority for the calculation, PRECISION or SPEED. We recommend this value to be SPEED.
Select the part to analyze.
Then the function will propose different tools to built up the mold parting line.:
You can also select the yellow "proposals" to validate the parting line. "Green" markers show you the continuity of the parting line. The goal is to get a closed parting line.
You can select
a parting line proposal set by using a selection (window
or )
Once the parting line is closed this message will appear at the message bar :
|
Parting line is closed
|
and the system will propose QUIT, or create a NEW PARTING LINE.
Available options:
Click >> to go to parting lines operations :
To better precise your selection
your can set to YES the Detect small edges
option.
You can also ask for an automatic
detection of the Edge path curve.
At any moment you can QUIT
the function.
Available modifications:
At any moment the function can be
recalled Create new parting lines or
if parting lines had already been created the system will propose to RESET PARTING LINE
or DUPLICATE
the parting lines from another part.
If in your mold file must have more
than one part at this moment your will need to use the function RESET PARTING LINE | SELECT ANOTHER PART and select
the corresponding new part for parting lines.
When recalling the function and selection
the part there will be the choice of create a NEW PARTING
LINE or Select the parting line
to use
for edition.
Specific point(s):
PARTING
LINES MUST BE APPLIED ON PART EDGES
ONLY.

Menu access: Part | Parting line | Visualize vectors
Description:
This command allows to visualize the normal and/or perpendicular vectors associated to the parting lines.
General procedure:
Select the type of vectors to visualize, PERPENDICULAR VECTORS or ALL VECTORS.
Select the curve you want to visualize vectors from.
Available modifications:
You can INVERT
the vectors' direction.
To delete the vectors, select again
the curve that they belong to.
Specific point(s):
The created vectors are associative
and will follow the evolution of the part.
Create external parting surfaces
Icon access: ![]()
Menu access: Part | Parting line | Create parting external surfaces
Description:
With this command you can create and manage the external parting surfaces of the mold.
General procedure:
Select the type of surface that you want to create.
Once the parting surface has been created, start the function SEW.
Never
sew together external and internal parting surfaces.
Once the sewing is done you will be able to
ADD OTHER SURFACES. This will allow you to add surfaces to those previously sewed.
CREATE NEW SURFACE. This will allow you to create a new surface independent from the previously sewed.
SMOOTH SURFACES. This will allow you to smooth the surface resulting from the sewing.
Available options:
The default dimensions of these surfaces
can be set in Tools | Options | Block
and curves
Available modifications:
You can recover the parameters of
the surfaces in the construction tree or using
.
Create internal parting surfaces
Icon access: ![]()
Menu access: Part | Parting line | Create parting internal surfaces
Description:
With this command you can create and manage the internal parting surfaces of the mold.
Available modifications:
You can recover the parameters of
the surfaces in the construction tree or using
.

Menu access: Part | Parting line | Add surfaces
Description:
Allows to define surfaces as parting surfaces.
General procedure:
Select the reference face.
Select the surfaces that you want to add
OK.
Changing the color before validating
the options you can visualize the bordering edges of the surface to have
a first visual control of the result.
Specific point(s):
You can define a NEW
SURFACE by clicking on the button at the start of the function.
Creation of core/cavity blocks
Icon access: ![]()
Menu access: Block | Core/cavity blocks | Create
Description:
Allows to create the cavity blocks.
General procedure:
Define the mold opening coordinate system.
Select the type of clocks to create.
Select the parts or parts for which you want to create cavity blocks.
Select the elements of the parting surface.
Dimension the cavity blocks.
CREATE BLOCKS.
Available modifications:
Once the blocks have been created
the system will allow you to MODIFY then in
the function continuation.
Once you have exited the function
use
to manage the dimensions of the blocks or restart
the function
.
Specific point(s):
You must create the core/cavity blocks
process. To do this, launch the function
and set the process options
for this block.
Just after the creation of the blocks
with VISUALIZATION you can separately show the
top, bottom block ant the part.
If the blocks already exist the function
will propose the CREATION of new ones.
TRIM allows
you to trim
the "ghost blocks"
if they had been created in preliminary
design mode.
NEVER
DELETE A CAVITY BLOCK USING THE FUNCTION
. To DELETE A CAVITY BLOC USE THE FUNCTION
and select one of the two blocks, the one at the top or the one at the bottom.
If a block becomes invalid control
if the parting lines are correct for the block separation and verify and
correct possible inconsistencies in the parting surfaces. Once
you have made the controls restart the function
and click
on UPDATE. You can also start the function from
Menu access: Block | Core/cavity blocks | Regenerate
You can then select one of the two blocks (both of them will be then updated).
Icon access: ![]()
Menu access: Block | Core/cavity blocks | Check
Description:
Allows to control the validity of the necessary elements for the creation of the mold cavities.
General procedure:
Once the part is inserted, control if a cavity blocks' separation is possible.
Once the lines are created, control that the parting lines can separate the part in two shells.
Once the surfaces have been created, control that the parting surface isolates well the top and bottom part of the cavity.
Available option(s):
You can also check your part with
:
You must get thsi result:
Solid, 1 body, 2 shells, xx faces, xx loops, xxx edges, xxx vertices, sewing tolerance = x.xx mm.
Specific point(s):
If you find difficult to select the
plastic part when prompted by the program it is because you have on the
screen the part
without holes. Make that one invisible using the TopSolid'Mold
visualization and make visible the plastic part.

Menu access: Block | Core/cavity blocks | Move insertion cursor
Description:
Allows to insert operations under the trimming of the blocks done after a preliminary design.
General procedure:
Select :
directly a core / cavity block
ALL CORE / CAVITY BLOCKS
Opposite block
The software move down the insertion cursor under the trimming operation.
