Part modification - Normal mode
Icon access: ![]()
Menu access : -
Description:
Allows to report the part modification during the mold design.
General procedure:
Start the function.
The softwares creates a new model, will become the file linked to the
mold file. The part of this document will be the new reference of the
mold
.
Click in the document
that contains the new part.
If the file is not open, select EXPLORE and
select in your explorer the file of this new part
.
Select the new reference shapes. If you do not know what is new, click on ALL SHAPES.
Set the transformation to get the both geometries at the same position.
The software compares these 2 geometries and proposes to SEW the new surfaces to the old model, or to CONTINUE and ignore the difference. In this case, the software keeps the old geometry.

Once all the surfaces have been sewed, you got a solid part. If the modifications have an effect on parting lines, you would be able to manage them.
Invalid parting lines are shown one by one, and are the lines applied to the old geometry. You can:
Select the replacing edge.
NO REPLACING EDGE : You do not replace the edge because this one is no longer used.
ZOOM : you magnify the area where the invalid edge is present.
DELETE ALL INVALID PARTING LINES : You will have to rebuild the parting lines as in the original design step.
Once the invalid parting lines are OK, you have to:
Close the open parting lines.
Create the new parting lines if the new geometry needs ones.
Once the parting lines are valid, you QUIT. The software goes in the parting surfaces creation mode. The invalid parting surfaces appear: You can:
MANUAL MANAGEMENT : you "repair" the surfaces regarding the new geometry and the previous work on the parting lines (reference plane for a plate, direction for an extruded...).
CONTINUE : you keep the old invalid surfaces and go in creation mode.
DELETE ALL INVALID SURFACES : you will have to rebuild the parting surfaces as in the original design step.
Once you treated all the invalid surfaces, you have to:
Build the missing surfaces.
Create the new surfaces if the new geometry needs ones.
Once your surfaces have been built, you QUIT.
You can QUIT
one more time, or REGENERATE CORE/CAVITY BLOCKS.
the blocks are updated
.
Specific point(s) :
To avoid data loss, we recommend you to start this function
on an indexed version of your mold file.
Do not exit
the function during the progress of the part modification.
The sewing
operation disappears during the parting surfaces repair.
