Part for mold design
Before to start a mold design, you must check the part to get (from the highest to the lowest priority) :
A solid
Description:
Every part you want to insert in your mold file must be a solid separable in 2 shells. This is absolutely needed.
General procedure:
To check it, you cans use the following TopSolid'Design function:
F2 key
Specific point(s) :
If the part is not solid, you must
sew it before to start.
In preliminary
design mode, your part to inject could be surfacic.
Valid
Description:
A valid part would allow you to design correctly your mold. With an invalid part, you will may have some trouble, for example during the draft use.
General procedure:
To check the validity of the part :
In TopSolid'Design and / or TopSolid'Mold : Shape | Manage | Check geometry
In TopSolid'Mold : Control
Specific point(s) :
You can start a design with
an invalid part, but we inform you that we can not assure the good progress
of the design with this part status.
Simplified
Description:
In a simplified part, polynomical surfaces have been replaced by analytical faces (planes, cylinder, fillet, cone...). It needs less memory and allows a faster calculation.
General procedure:
To simplify a BASIC shape :
Specific point(s) :
A non simplified part will
be "heavier" to handle.
If you apply some operations
on your part, after the import, you will no longer be able to simplify
the part.
