Contour 3D

The idea of this function is to start drawing a contour on a plane and, when needed, make active a new origin at the end of the contour (this origin could be oriented as desired).

There are numerous options that will allow particular ways of drawing. You can, for example extend a face to a given distance of itself..

For a full description of this function see the TopSolid/Design help.

This way you can obtain a 3D contour totally associated with the environment in which it has been drawn.

General procedure:

  1. Select the origin defining the starting orientation.

  2. Select the point or starting origin.

  3. On that plane trace the part of the contour that you wan to draw..

  4. Click on  CHANGE PLANE  to make a new origin active a the end of the contour.

  5. Click again on CHANGE PLANE   if you want a new orientation (plane XY, XZ or YZ).

  6. Continue to trace the contour on the plane.

  7. Repeat operation 3 to 6 end click on STOP  to finish the 3D contour.

Available options):

The button  CHANGE PLANE  allows to change the orientation of the active plane (XY, XZ or YZ) and automatically replace it at the end of the contour.

The button  STOP  allows to finish drawing the 3D contour.

Particular remarks:

All the alignment constraints are created in reference with the green origin.

To add dimensions to the 3D contour you will use the function Tools | Dimension 3D.
