Icons bar: Cooling

Icon access:

Menu access: Water

Description:

Allows to create and manage cooling systems.

The management tools for the cooling systems are not accessible by the icons bar of  TopSolid/Mold. You will find them in the menu Water | Management.

Create pipe circuit

Icon access:

Menu access: Cooling | Create pipe circuit

Description:

Allows to create a cooling circuit.

General procedure:

  1. Choose the conception mode:

  1. Build up the cooling system. No matter which is your selected conception mode you will have to draw the cooling system pipe by pipe. You will have to manage every time a first point P1 and them a second point P2.

Available modification(s):

You can draw the cooling system by entering the coordinate values of the points P1 and P2. You can also put the points at an approximate position and dimension them with the dimensioning tools of TopSolid'Design.

Specific point(s):

The drilling from a circuit are grouped in the symbolic tree. This group takes into account the numbering of the cooling circuit.

Create tank regulation

Icon access:

Menu access: Water | New tank regulation

Description:

Allows to create a tank cooling system.

General procedure:

  1. Select the target(s) to drill.

  2. OK or MODIFY THE  DIRECTION shown on screen (by default, the mold axis, directed to the shape).

  3. The cooling system is built on construction points. You can CREATE POINTS, PROPAGATE POINTS, or existing Select points.

  4. Select projection points. You do not have to design your points on the "entry" face of the regulation.

  5. Adjust the cooling parameters:

  1. Once the regulation "inserted", you can CONTINUE or create a PRIMARY CIRCUIT.

  2. QUIT or create another circuit.

Available modification(s):

All management functions are adapted to this kind of regulation.

To manage the offset length, use the translation for a TANK REGULATION.

Specific point(s):

The drilling from a circuit are grouped in the symbolic tree. This group takes into account the numbering of the cooling circuit.

To extend this kind of circuit, restart the function and project the previous designed points on the correct face of the new plate.

Think to adjust the offset length with a negative value to get a through all pipe.

Visualize pipe circuit

Icon access:

Menu access: Cooling | Visualize pipe circuit

Description:

Allows to visualize the cooling system to make a visual control.

General procedure:

  1. Select the circuit to visualizer. You can also visualize ALL.

  2. Select the transparency mode to apply.

  3. Select the representation : CYLINDER or REAL.

  4. APPLY to visualize the cooling circuit.

  5. RESET to start from the beginning.

Available modification(s):

You can keep the shapes resulting from the visualization. If you do not ask to keep the forms the result will disappear immediately after the exit of the function.

The kept shapes are basic ones. If you add new lines to the circuit you will have to restart the visualization function and ask to keep the "new" shapes after you have destroyed the "old" ones.

Pipe circuit efficiency

Icon access:

Menu access: Cooling | Pipe circuit efficiency

Description:

Allows to verify the efficiency of a cooling circuit.

It is not a rheology test considering the physical characteristics of the material. You use a  value define by the configuration tools of the program.

General procedure:

  1. Select the circuit to visualizer. You can also visualize ALL.

  2. Select the transparency mode to apply.

  3. RESET to start from the beginning.

Collision test

Icon access:

Menu access: Cooling | Test interferences

Description:

Allows to control the possible collisions between the cooling system and the mold parts.

By default, the system dynamically controls the collisions with the plastic part while drawing a cooling system. You can also, by managing the configuration tools ask for this test during the creation on all of the mold parts. The necessary calculations needed to do so can slow the general functioning of the program.

General procedure:

  1. Select the circuit to control. You can also control ALL.

  2. OK.

  3. In case of an existing collision a window will open pointing out the interfering elements

Specific point(s):

The check between cooling components is done automatically during the components insertion.

Extend a pipe circuit

Icon access:

Menu access: Water | Management | Extend

Description:

Allow to extend a circuit from one element to other.

In fact cooling circuits can only be drawn on one element at the time.

General procedure:

  1. Select the circuit to extend. A circuit line, can be selected from the screen or choose a pipe number.

  2. Select the extension mode to use:

Management tools

Icon access: / / /

Menu access: Water | Management

Description:

Allows to modify the diameter of one or many water pipes at the same time.

General procedure:

  1. Choose the cooling system to modify or select the SHAPE that contains ALL the cooling system to modify.

  2. If you choose one drilling, choose between ALL THE CIRCUIT or ONLY PIPE.

  3. Enter the new diameter.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN TO DESTROY A PIPE CIRCUIT OR A WATER LINE BY OTHER MEANS THAN THIS FUNCTION.

General procedure:

  1. Select the water circuit to destroy.

  2. The system will ask if  DELETE CIRCUIT attached to the selected water line. Select a water line If you just want to delete that portion of the water circuit.

Specific point(s):

It is recommended to delete the components related to the water line before launching the suppress function.

In the case of a circuit built on a contour, the contour returns to its basic state after the suppression of the circuit.

Management - Invert

Icon access: -

Menu access: Water | Management | Invert

Description:

Allows to invert a water line.

General procedure:

  1. Select the water line to invert.

  2. Click on the red arrow to INVERT the water line.

Specific point(s):

By default the water line exits by the P1 point during construction.

Management - Translate

Icon access: -

Menu access: Water | Management | Translate

Description:

Allows to move a circuit or a water line.

General procedure:

  1. Define the translation.

  2. Select the circuit to move.
