Thread cycle method

The penetration of the tool in the threading can be done in 2 distinct modes :

The cut depth can vary, so as to respect a constant chip section, or constant depth (and in this case, it’s the chip section that varies).

1 flank constant volume

The depth of each cut is calculated so that the tool removes always the same volume of material. The tool plunges along the thread flank, respecting the thread angle, so that only the opposite cutting edge works.

1 flank constant depth

The depth of each cut is equal to the total depth of the threading divided by the number of cuts to be done. The tool plunges along the thread flank, respecting the thread angle, so that only the opposite cutting edge works.

2 flanks constant volume

The depth of each cut is calculated so that each tool removes always the same volume of material. The tool plunge is done perpendicular to the threading so that both cutting edges work simultaneously.

2 flanks constant depth

The depth of each cut is equal to the total depth of the threading divided by the number of cuts to be done. The tool plunge is done perpendicular to the threading so that both cutting edges work simultaneously.
