Make on a part, one or several grooves. These grooves can be
Internal or external grooves
Cylindrical or frontal grooves

In order to be done, the grooves must be completely defined, i.e. that the solid representing the finish part includes the definition of grooves. Their shape is automatically recognized, so long as they respect the following rules :
To have a left or right shouldered, or not.
To have sloped flanks, or not.
To have chamfers or radii, on the nominal diameter or on the bottom (symmetrically or not).

Any other type of groove cannot be done using this menu, and must thus be machined normally using the functions "Groove roughing" and "Profiling" (For example).
In standard, the rough cycle is able to make in automatic :
The roughing with several plunges
The flanks finishing
The bottom finishing.
Also, with a round insert, the allowed scallop defines the number of plunges.
The tool path generated by the groove
cycle does not take into account the state of the stock before this operation
(TopSolid'Cam considers that upper the groove, the stock is cylindrical).
However, this operation updates the stock.
Select the menu
"Turning | Turning | Groove" or click the
icon.
If there are several parts, indicate the part to machine.
Designate the face defining the groove diameter (or one of the adjacent radiused faces).
Select the tool to use for the operation.
Define the tool orientation according to the kind of groove (cylindrical or frontal).
Specify the different parameters in the tab dialogue box which appears.
Enter the comment which appears on the machine block listing meant for the NC operator. This comment will also appear when the user wishes to take a look at or modify an operation, using the Operation/ Operations manager function.
Eventually, enter a codified remark which will be interpreted by the post-processor, in a specific manner predefined by the user and the post-processor redactor.
Validate entries made into the dialogue box by clicking on OK.
The user can use the Topological mode or the Automatic mode to access to this function
