Roughing : Pass method

Minimum chip

This is the smallest cut depth value  that the tool can take. This value is generally used in Ramping mode.

Constant

This value defines the maximum cut depth value, which should never be exceeded during the cycle.  Of course, this value must be upper than the minimum chip!

By default, this value is equal to the radial cut depth, defined in TopTool , if the direction of the machining is horizontal, and equivalent to the axial cut depth if the machining direction is vertical.

Variable

This mode enables the user  to vary the cut depth depending on predetermined criteria. The following diagrams show the different possibilities.

  Initial pass depth  (variable)

It corresponds to the depth of the first cut  (P1)

 Final pass depth  (variable)

It corresponds to the depth of the last cut  (P2)

Number of initial passes

TopSolid'Cam makes first  this number N cuts at P1 depth. The method by which the rest of the cuts are done depends on the state of the Progressiveness check (yes/no).

Progressiveness

This button determines the variation mode for the pass depth (after the N initial passes).

Tick

TopSolid'Cam makes N cuts at P1 depth, the depth of each following cut is increased progressively up to the value P2.

Not

TopSolid'Cam makes N cuts at P1 depth, the rest of the cuts are made according to the P2 cut depth
