General
These functions allow to realize:
* The same tool path several times with the same part finished in the same stock (Operations / Propagation).
* The same part several times to have more than one finish and stock parts (Part / Propagation).
Of course the user can use these two functions together
For example, very often, the user wishes to position the same part on the machine’s table or on the cube of a horizontal machining center, several times. In such cases, machining operations created for one of these parts must be duplicated on all the other identical parts.
Similarly, when small parts are created, for example, it is relatively useful to create these small parts from a single stock model (work from a given set).
TopSolid'Cam offers functions to duplicate operations, as well as functions to duplicate parts.
Understanding the function
Propagate a part, using a function with the same name, implies that a set of machining operations for a part, will be reproduced for all other parts. Similarly, modifying operations for one of the parts, whether an original or a copied part, systematically modifies the others. If you add 1 operation in a duplicated part, there is no modification on the other parts.
Propagate one or several operations, using a function with the same name, is not based on any topological reference. The user defines all transformation parameters. Modifying one of these operations, whether an original or a duplicated operation, systematically modifies the others.
All propagation types are applicable; the ones that are used most often are:
Translation (in the case of several identical parts on a table)
Rotation (in the case of several identical parts on a cube, for example)
Symmetry.
The "Part / Propagation" and "Operation / Propagation" menus allow the user to create, edit or cancel a propagation.
Creating a propagation is similar to defining a transformation. The method used is totally identical to the one used in TopSolid. The user can, therefore, refer to the chapter describing these operations in the TopSolid manual.
