Create one or several shift isocurves. This function allows to define isocurves which are already shifted according to the tool diameter and also the offset axis of the tool.
This function is really useful for the worm conveyor, with a fixed or variable pitch, with a cylindrical or conical bottom and with all the kind of sections. In this case, the user is able to define the optimal curves to use for the worm conveyor function.
This function is also useful in 5 axis in continuous mode, to define a the curve limitation.

TopSolid'Cam created a parallel face of the of reference face. Then TopSolid'Cam extracts the isocurves on this parallel face. The distance of the parallel face is of course in relation with the used tool :
Then, quickly, the user can define
these curves and use them for the drive curves of the worm machining function.
Indeed, in this case, the tool path is REALLY optimized! ![]()
Two solutions :
First one :
Select the menu "4/5 axis | Worm | Shift isocurve"
Select the face to use.
Select the vertical direction. Usually it's Z+ (another direction is useful only for radiused tool).
Insert which curves are needed and validate entries made into the dialogue box by clicking on OK.
Second one :
Select the menu "4/5 axis | Worm | Shift isocurve"
Click on the
"Around axis" button to take into
account the tool offset axis ![]()
Select the rotation axis ( X+ or Y+).
Input the tool offset axis value to use and the reference face to use. In this case, the vertical direction is always Z+.
Insert which curves are needed and validate entries made into the dialogue box by clicking on OK.
