The Parallel Plan Technology mode allows tool path creation automatism, using the same method as the old copying machines’. The tool follows the numerical shape as a follower follows a wooden model ; the follower’s movements are locked according to an axis, to prevent the latter from moving in a plane other than the one perpendicular to the XY plane.
The revolve parallel plane adds a 4-th axis allowing to turn the part during the machining for each cut. It's so possible to machine

All the faces of the part to be manufactured are cut, by radial planes around the axis of revolution.
These planes are regularly spaced out with a radial step calculated by TopSolid'Cam.
The axis of revolution is essential for a good functioning of the machining.
In longitudinal cutting method, the machining profiles are directly obtained with the radial cuts. Machining is made so along the direction of the axis of revolution. According to the cutting method (Zigzag or one way), the links between 2 longitudinal profiles is done also with an angular rotation of the part.
In radial cutting method, a second series of cuts, perpendicular of the first ones and always in the plan XY, is made. Intersection between these 2 cuts composes the new machining profiles. Machining is made so along the perpendicular direction of the axis of revolution. According to the cutting method (Zigzag or one way), the links movement is done with a translation movement and a rotation.
In the particular case of a machining (between 0 and 360° for example) TopSolid'Cam generates automatically a machining in helix. There is so no more links between 2 profiles.
The tool moves only in Z. Movement is completely responsible for the 4-th axis, is the rotation of the part.
Select the menu
"Milling | 4/5 axis | Revolve parallel plane" or click the
icon.
If there are several parts, indicate the part to machine..
Select the only tool (or change tool) which can be used for the machining operation.
Specify the different parameters in the tab dialogue box which appears. The operator must use this dialogue box to select the other faces to be swept.
Enter the comment which appears on the machine block listing meant for the NC operator. This comment will also appear when the user wishes to take a look at or modify an operation, using the Operation/ Operations manager function.
Eventually, enter a codified remark which will be interpreted by the post-processor, in a specific manner predefined by the user and the post-processor redactor.
Validate entries made into the dialogue box by clicking on OK.
