Rapid tool paths
This function allows limitation of moves carried out in rapid feed rate outside the material. When a part is created by levels or contains angular limitations (as in the example below), there are many rapid tool paths. Therefore, it is possible to minimize them by ticking the ‘Minimize air cutting’ checkbox. TopSolid'Cam will then link nearby tool path sections to obtain the longest possible tool paths, without any retract moves to the clearance plane. tool path section junctions are obtained from segments with maximum lengths defined by the user.
Using segments to link the various tool path sections prevents the use of the ‘between each pass’ method, with the By Contact method. Moreover, here, it is strongly advised not to use tool paths of the one way cycle type ; otherwise, all advantages linked to the function will be lost.
Minimize air cutting
This checkbox must be checked to allow selection of the maximum distance in rapid feed rate, or it must be activated if already defined.
Length max.
This field allows to define maximum distance for linking segments.
Feed rate
This function allows to change feed rates into rapid feed rate. The user can choose between rapid or tool feed rate.
