Press this button to choose faces for which TopSolid'Cam must control possible collisions with the tool during sweep machining.

These collisions are often the result of the chosen tool radius value.

The selection of a bad face for the limitation (below face in blue) of a machining does not take into account the possible collisions of the tool with the part as on the example below.

Automatic selection

This checkbox must be ticked for TopSolid'Cam to AUTOMATICALLY determines the set of faces which can produce collisions during the sweep machining’s tool path calculation.

This calculation can be long because it analyzes faces one to one, it is quickly advised to use manual mode to limit a machining on a consequent part.

Stock to leave

This value defines the thickness that must be left on the limitation surfaces. By default, this value is equal to that of the machining stock to leave.

The following figures show the influence of the selection (or not) of the calculation mode with limitation faces.

The sweep machining operation on the face as shown below is limited by the face’s natural boundaries. If the tool diameter is taken into account, limitation is not enough and collisions with the adjacent faces will occur.
