Turning Tools : Right - Left
These few samples review how the tools should be defined, using the TopTool software. They describe the differences between a left tool and a right tool.
The following diagrams show the exterior Right (1) and Left (2) machining tools.
The following diagrams show the interior Right (3) and Left (4) machining tools.
All the following diagrams show how to differentiate easily a right tool from a left tool. In fact, it is the positioning of the cutting part (insert) which determines if the tool is a left or right tool, when the operator holds it in his hand, as shown below. The user will note that all the tools should be held vertically, whether they be exterior or interior.
