Drilling Depths

Localisation: General | Cycle | Drilling depths

Within TopSolid'Cam, drilling depths can be specified in 3 different ways:

Useful Depth

This value defines the length of the hole’s cylinder section.

Gauge Depth

This value allows the user to determine the precise depth level for conical holes.  Generally speaking, they are defined according to the depth of a theoretical diameter. The gauge depth defines the theoretical diameter’s position in Z, (see ‘Gauge Diameter’).

Tip Depth

This value defines the total hole length.

Print Diameter

This value defines the diameter of the print the centering/point drill must leave during a centering or pointing operation.  TopSolid'Cam uses the print diameter value to calculate the centering depth.

The print diameter is usually used for creating small holes since it is possible to generate their entry chamfer, without using a (chamfering) or milling operation.

Gauge Diameter

This value allows the user to determine the precise depth for conical holes.  Generally speaking, they are defined according to the theoretical diameter position.  TopSolid'Cam indicates the gauge diameter value that must be used as reference for the “gauge depth” area
