Side(s) on which facing operations are to be performed

Once the user has specified the side (hatched region in bold, in the above diagram), it is automatically extended to the stock model’s limits.  Thus, the facing operation will be performed on the whole of the side.  A facing operation is applicable to a side when all its external frontiers open onto descending sides.
