Description:

Allows the elastic supports of the nodes to be given to edges or faces, in a direction that is normal or tangential to faces.

General principle:

To apply an elastic support to entire faces

  1. Select .

  2. Select the translation and rotation elastic support values.

  3. Use multiple selection tools to select the faces to which this support will apply.

  4. Set the boundary condition annotation text or click on .

To apply an elastic support to edges that are tangential/normal to a face

  1. Select .

  2. Select the translation and rotation elastic values.

  3. Select the reference face.

  4. Select the direction of the support,  or .

  5. Use multiple selection tools to select edges to which this support will apply.

  6. Set the boundary condition annotation text or click on .

Specific point(s):

 Elastic support is shown as a line going in the direction chosen, the end of which represents translation support as a coil along the axis, and rotation support as a flat coil at the axis-end.

In a TopCASTOR 2D document, only a support that is tangential to a face can be created.

The translation and rotation support values are entered for all the loaded nodes.  Also, in the post-processor, each node is given an elastic support, the value of which is the same as that entered divided by the number of nodes submitted.

 The elastic support is automatically put in the "BOUNDARY CONDITIONS SET" at the time it is created, and can be edited at any time in the symbolic tree  .
