Description:

Allows elastic supports to be given to edges, faces or points according to the three directions of a local register mark.

General principle:

  1. Select the locations to which the elastic support is to be applied using the and  buttons.

  2. Validate your selection by clicking on .

  3. Enter the translation and rotation support axes (use the  and  buttons to switch from one mode to the other).  Rotation elastic support only applies to surfaces, so this option only appears when the part undergoing displacement comprises a surface.  Translation elastic supports are entered in a unit that is compatible with N/m. Rotation elastic supports are entered in a unit that is compatible with N.m/rad.

  4. Select a reference register mark in the working space, or click on .

  5. Set the boundary condition annotation text or click on .

Optional point(s):

Points can be directly designated or meshing nodes displaced using the  button.  Select one or more points, then enter the support axes and the reference register mark in the same way as for the edges and faces.

In order that the point(s) of this boundary condition in the middle of a face, edge or beam is/are correctly processed, the meshing of the supported geometry is re-run.

Specific point(s):

 The elastic support is shown as a register mark oriented in the same way as the reference mark, each end of which represents translation support as a coil along the axis, and rotation support as a flat coil at the axis-end.

The translation and rotation support values are entered for all the loaded nodes.  Also, in the post-processor, each node is given an elastic support, the value of which is the same as that entered divided by the number of nodes submitted.

The elastic support is automatically put in the "BOUNDARY CONDITIONS SET" at the time it is created, and can be edited at any time in the symbolic tree .
