The beam section database is shown as a tree structure. This gives you quicker access to the various functions associated with each of the objects.
Selecting the tree root
displays, on the right-hand side, quantitative
information on the content of the database.
Selecting a family
displays the properties of
the family on the right-hand side.
Selecting a type
displays the properties of the type
on the right-hand side
Selecting a beam section
displays the properties of
the beam section, on the right-hand side.
This contains all the beam sections divided into families. From this database, you can access a menu that allows you to print all the beam sections.
A family is used for grouping beam section types together on the basis of defined criteria. They are defined by a name and a description. There is a menu giving you immediate access to the various processing and printing functions
There are three types of families in the catalogue:
Standard beam sections: Containing 8 types of predefined beam sections. Here you can create new beam sections and the application can perform the calculation of the properties. It is not possible to create, modify or delete the types.
Normalized beam sections: These are the beam sections based on the various standards that you use. You can create new types for these. There are controls on any deletions here.
User defined beam sections: You can create whatever you want using whatever shared criteria you want to here. Be careful as there are no checks when deleting.
Types enable you to group together beam sections based on common criteria. These are defined by a name and a description. There is a different menu depending on the family and giving you immediate access to the various processing and printing functions.
Standard beam sections: Standard types menu.
Normalized beam sections: Normalized types menu.
User defined beam sections: User defined types menu.
Each beam section has a set of properties defined by the user. These can be modified at any time using the relevant menu.
The beam sections cannot be moved or copied from one family to another.
