The numbers in the above illustration are used only in the lathe tool database, and are not seen by the user. Like the non-groove tool orientation numbers, the groove tool orientation numbers are also in the range of 0 to 7. However, in the tool library there is a flag. When tool path information is stored in the ICD file, a 20 is added to the groove tool numbers, making the actual groove tool number range 20-27.
