Convert Database

You can convert the file to your newer version. You will be able edit the values in the table cells, edit the structure of the tables, and add tables.

Structural changes can adversely affect the operation of SURFCAM. Care should be taken to avoid modifying the database structure.

Files that have been converted will work on the computer on which they were converted and should work equally well on all computers with the same version of Microsoft® Access.

To use converted files on systems with older versions of Microsoft® Access or systems that do not have Microsoft® Access installed, do the following.

In Microsoft® Access, click Tools > Database Utilities > Convert Database > To Prior Access Database Version.

After you click OK on the Convert / Open Database dialog box, SURFCAM displays the Convert Database Info dialog box.

Choose the Surfnnnn folder (where nnnn is the version number).

Do not overwrite the original file.

  1. Save the file in the Surfnnnn folder, using a temporary name, for example, Milltlb_MT.mdb.

  2. Close the dialog box that appears.

  3. In the Explorer, rename the original file. For example, rename Milltlb.mdb to Milltlb_orig.mdb.

  4. Rename your temporary file to the exact original name. For example, rename Milltlb_MT.mdb to Milltlb.mdb.
