To form the mirror plane, enter the global X, Y and Z coordinates for two points that meet the following requirements.

1. The line segment between the points lies in the mirror plane

2. The line segment between the points is parallel to the XY plane of the Construction View entered in the Mirror dialog.

You might find it helpful to actually create this line segment. The mirror plane passes through this line segment and is perpendicular to the XY plane of the entered Construction View.

The current CView does not affect the mirror plane, but you might find it helpful to switch to the entered CView before you mirror the operation.

 

Example, Use the Other Plane option to mirror an operation

1. Click the Operations Manager button .

2. In the operations list, select the operation to mirror.

3. In the Operations Manager, click the Transform Operation button .

4. Click the Mirror button.

5. Click the Other option.

6. Enter the X, Y and Z coordinates that mark the start and end of the imaginary line that lies in the mirror plane, and is parallel to the XY plane of the entered Construction View (CView).
   
   In the illustration below, A marks the first point's X, Y, Z coordinates, and B marks the second point's coordinates.
   
   If you have geometry that marks the mirror plane, use Analyze > Elements or Analyze > Location to find out the coordinate values.

7. Enter the number of the Construction View plane. The mirror plane passes through the imaginary line, and is perpendicular to the XY plane of the Construction View plane you enter. The CView axes shown below indicates the entered Construction View, not necessarily the current CView.  

 

 

To mirror the tool axis, check the Rotate Tool Vector option. You must first create a mirror CView, a CView whose Z-axis matches the tool axis of the desired copy. The Z-axis of the mirror CView must be at the same angle to the mirror plane as the original CView. In the following example, the Z-axis of each CView is 20 degrees from the mirror plane.

When you complete the Mirror transformation, the copy of the operation uses the mirror CView to mirror the tool axis.

In the illustration, A and B mark the global coordinates for the Mirror dialog box, with the Other Plane option. The transformation uses an imaginary mirror plane. This mirror plane,

1. contains the line between these coordinates.

2. is perpendicular to the XY plane of the Construction View entered in the Mirror dialog box.
   

 

• Rotate and Circular Array transformations can translate the tool orientation in the same manner as Mirror.

The transformation does not mirror the tools axis if . . .

1. you clear the Rotate Tool Vector option.

2. the copy does not find a CView whose Z-axis matches its tool axis

This tool axis remains the same as the original.
