You can create a number of closed boundary curves that define small areas on surfaces. Turn on the Use Bounding Curve option to limit the cuts to these areas. After you click OK to exit the operation dialog, use the Select menu to select boundary curves and click Done.
Lines, arcs and splines can join to form the boundary curves. If the curves are not drawn on the surface, the curves are projected on the surface to form the boundary. The curves are projected in the construction view. The 3D Offset operation offsets the cutting passes in the shape(s) of the selected boundaries.
