The Plunge Rough plunge moves are aligned on plunge points that are arranged in a square or a triangle grid pattern. The Grid Type parameter identifies which grid pattern is used. A round core of material is removed from around each plunge point by each plunge move. The diameter of these cores is the diameter of the tool.

Equilateral Triangle

The plunge moves are aligned on the corners of equilateral triangles in the Equilateral Triangle grid pattern. The sides of the triangles must have a length that causes an overlap of the round cores of material.

Square

The plunge moves are aligned on the corners of squares in the Square grid pattern. The sides of the square must have a length that causes an overlap of the round cores of material.
