Cut Angle

This value is the angle of the cuts in the Face Mill toolpath. The angle is measured from the positive X Axis of the active CView. The acceptable range of values is 0° to 180°.

The width of the part is always measured in the direction that is perpendicular to the direction of the cut. The sum of the part width and the Side Clearance is used to calculate the actual step over.

The Cut Angle and the Direction parameters determine the start location of the toolpath.

  1. The Cut Angle = 0° with the Climb direction creates a start point that is past the upper left of the chained geometry. The direction of the first cut is the positive X direction.

  2. The Cut Angle = 180° with the Climb direction creates a start point that is past the lower right of the chained geometry. The direction of the first cut is the negative X direction.

  3. The Cut Angle = 0° with the Conventional direction creates a start point that is past the lower left of the chained geometry. The direction of the first cut is the positive X direction.

  4. The Cut Angle = 180° with the Conventional direction creates a start point that is past the upper right of the chained geometry. The direction of the first cut is the negative X direction.

  5. The Cut Angle = 90° with the Climb direction creates a start point that is past the lower left of the chained geometry. The direction of the first cut is the positive Y direction.
