To trim an element at its intersections with the two nearest elements,click Edit > Trim/Break > AutoTrim.
Video, Auto Trim, Delete Segment This removes the selected segments.
Video, Auto Trim, Keep Segment This retains the selected segments.
To trim elements, click Edit > Trim/Break > Trim.
Click the button again to switch it to Trim 1 or Trim 2.
Trim 1 trims only the first element selected. Trim 2 trims both elements.

Retain the selected segments.

Tip After you trim multiple segments you can repeat Undo to restore each segment.

Location
After you select the first element, the Location button appears.
Click Location to display the Select Point menu. Select a location to trim to.

To break an element into multiple elements, click Edit > Trim/Break > Break.
Click the button again to switch it to Break 1 or Break 2.
Break 1 breaks only the first element selected. Break 2 breaks both elements.

Multiple
Use Multiple to break multiple elements at multiple locations.

Auto Break breaks the selected element at its intersections with all other elements.
To see the new elements in a different color, change the color first.

Click Edit > Trim/Break.
Learn Auto Trim first, because it is often the fastest and simplest method. The other trim methods provide any needed flexibility for various trim tasks.
