The Communications dialog sets the serial port parameters for the interface to the FaroArm.

Serial Port Settings

Serial port

Connected serial port (COM1 to COM4).

Baud rate

Speed of data stream (4800 baud to 115200 baud).

Parity

Data stream parity (None, Even).

Data bits

Number of data bits per each byte sent. (7 or 8).

Error tolerance

The higher the error tolerance, the greater the number of retries whenever the application receives erroneous packets from the data stream. The maximum error tolerance setting will cause the program to try to read data from the FaroArm indefinitely.

Sampling rate

This slider controls the number of times per second that Faro will read the position of the digitizer tip. The higher the number, the higher the frequency of reads and updates. Note that continuous mode is not available at the highest baud rates.
