Generating Patches and Calculating View Factors

Next the patches must be generated and then the view factors may be calculated. The default settings for Patch Specification are used.

For radiation patch specification the region-wise and boundary-wise radiation patch numbers are by default set to 100% of the number of boundary faces. If we want to customize the number of patches on a boundary this can be done by choosing the appropriate option under Physics Conditions > Custom Patch Specification for the boundary itself and/or the entire region. For this tutorial the default "Use Region Values" is retained.

A message will appear in the status bar above the Properties window when the patch generation is finished. Once the patches have been generated the view factors may be calculated.
