Visualizing the Solution

We will view the temperature of the fluid and solid regions as the solution develops. Start by creating a new plane section part for display.

Right-click the Derived Parts node, and select New Part > Plane Section.

A new interactive in-place dialog, Create Section, will appear on top of the Graphics window to allow definition of the derived part.

Click the Input Parts button.

Make sure that the parts Fluid and Solid are in the Selected list. If not, select them in the Select From list, click the > button to move them into the Selected list and then click Close.

In the Plane Parameters group box, set the normal to (1,0,0) and activate the plane tool option to update the origin values by ticking its checkbox.

In the Display group box select the radio button Existing Displayer to show the plane section in the current scene and click Create.

In the object tree, a new node will appear within the Derived Parts node: plane section.

Click Close in the dialog.

The plane section part can now be added to any suitable scene or be displayed in its own scene if desired. We will create a new scalar scene and display the plane section and other parts colored by the temperature scalar value.

Right-click the Scenes node, and select New Scene > Scalar.

The Scalar Scene 1 display will appear. Adjust the view so that it looks approximately as shown below.

In the object tree, select the new Scenes > Scalar Scene 1 > Displayers > Scalar 1 > Parts node.

In the Properties window, click the right half of the Parts property. The Select Objects dialog will appear.

Select the parts Fluid:top, Fluid:bottom-solid1 [In-place2], Fluid:top-solid2 [In-place3], Fluid:collector and plane section and then click Close.

Right-click the scalar bar in the Graphics window display. In the pop-up menu that appears, select Temperature.

Look at the Scalar Scene 1 display to verify that it contains the thermal insulator geometry along with a blue color bar for temperature.
