Visualizing the Solution
We will view the velocity vector field as the solution develops on a plane bisecting the mesh and passing through the axis of symmetry. A scene showing the temperature contours will also be created for the same plane.
- To create the plane section, right-click on the Derived Parts node and select .

- In the Create Section in-place dialog that appears on the left of the geometry scene, click the Input Parts button and check that only is in the Selected list.
- In the Plane Parameters section, change the normal vector to
0,1,0
- Select New Vector Displayer in the Display section.
The completed dialog is shown below.
- Click Create to create the plane section and add it to the geometry scene as part of a vector displayer.
Note that no vectors will appear in the scene until you start the run.
To ensure that the geometry scene vectors are clearly visible, remove the top wall and the periodic boundaries from the plot.
- Select the Geometry Scene 1 > Displayers > Geometry 1 > Parts node.

- In the Properties window, click on the right side of the Parts property to open the Select Objects dialog.
- Deselect the periodic boundaries and the top wall, as shown below.

- Close the Select Objects dialog.
To create the temperature contour scene:
- Right-click the Scenes node and select .

The Scalar Scene 1 display will appear.
- In the simulation tree, select the new Scalar Scene 1 > Displayers > Scalar 1 node.

- In the Properties window, change the Contour Style property to .
- Now select the Scalar 1 > Parts node.

- In the Properties window, click on the right half of the Parts property.
The Select Objects dialog will appear.
- Add the plane section part to the Selected list.

- Click Close.
- Right-click on the scalar bar in the display. In the pop-up menu that appears, select .

- Rotate the scalar scene until the view is roughly perpendicular to the plane section (which is colored beige in the geometry scene), and the inlet boundaries are on the left.
- Save the simulation.
