Heat Transfer Tutorials

The tutorials in this set illustrate various STAR-CCM+ facilities for simulating heat transfer problems involving:

Natural convection, heat conduction and solid-fluid heat transfer.

All the above mechanisms plus surface-to-surface radiation.

Radiative heat transfer in solid and fluid participating media.

The starting point for all tutorials is a one-cell-thick hexahedral grid representing a solid fin within a rectangular enclosure containing air, as shown in the Figure below. Built with pro-STAR, the grid includes a non-conformal grid interface between the fin and surrounding air. The file containing grid data also includes information about the boundary types present in the problem.
