Setting Material Properties

In the capillaryEffects window, open the Continua node.

The color of the Injector node has turned from gray to blue to indicate that models have been activated.

Open the Injector > Models node. The selected models now appear within that node.

Open the Multi-Phase Mixture > Fluid Mixture nodes.

There are currently no materials defined in the Phases node. In multiphase flow problems that include surface tension effects, you are advised to define the densest fluid first since contact angle values at the wall are always specified relative to the first-defined fluid.

Right-click on the Phases node and select New Liquid Phase > C3H8O3 (Glycerine) to create a new node named C3H8O3.

Right-click on the Phases node again and select New Gas Phase > Air (Air) to create a new node named Air.

The default densities and viscosities for air and glycerine are suitable but the value of the surface tension coefficient needs to be changed.

Select the Air > Phase Properties > Surface Tension > Constant node.

In the Properties window, change the Value property to 0.059688 N/m.

Open the C3H8O3 node and change the surface tension coefficient for glycerine to 0.059688 N/m also.

The surface tension coefficients of the two fluids should always be given the same value to ensure that their treatment at the free surface is consistent.

Save the simulation.
