Visualizing the Results

At the end of the calculations, open the Scenes node and double-click on the Vector Scene 1 node to display the velocity vectors in the porous region.

Note that, in sharp contrast to the vector plot shown in the previous tutorial, the flow in this porous medium is essentially unidirectional.

We will now examine how the porous properties affect the flow downstream of the porous region by comparing velocity magnitude contours at the outlet from the two simulations side-by-side.

Right-click on the Scenes node and select New Scene > Scalar.

Select the Outline displayer node and, in the Properties window, deselect the Outline property.

Select the Scalar 1 displayer node. In the Properties window, select Smooth Filled for the Contour Style property.

Within the Scalar 1 node select the Parts node then add Fluid: outlet to the Parts list.

In the Graphics window, right-click on the legend color scale and select Velocity: Magnitude from the list.

Click on the

in the toolbar and select Look Down > -Y > Up +Z.

Open the Scalar 1 displayer node and select the Scalar Field node.

Change the Max property to 9.2.
