The tutorials in this set illustrate various STAR-CCM+ facilities for simulating flow in porous media. The examples presented cover materials whose distributed resistance is:
Both tutorials model flow through the catalyst geometry shown below. The catalyst material at the center of this geometry is modeled as a cylindrical porous region of length 0.03 m and diameter 0.1 m.

The three-dimensional grid is scaled to the appropriate size before being used for the analysis. The latter assumes isothermal conditions. Both tutorials employ STAR-CCM+'s segregated solver and the results are displayed using the built-in post-processing tools.
