Plotting Reference Data
An external data set consisting of experimental data will now be displayed together with the simulation data. First, however, the external data must be loaded into a table.
- Right-click on the Tools > Tables node and select .
- Navigate to the
pressure-ratio-port-wall.xy file (this will be located in the doc/tutorials/intake subdirectory of your STAR-CCM+ installation directory) and open it.
- Right-click the Plots > XY Plot 1 > Tabular node and select .
- Select the Tabular > tabular node.
- Select for the Table property.
- Select for the X Column property.
- Select for the Y Column property.
The tabular data will be displayed on the plot. To view this more clearly:
The Symbol Style - Color dialog will appear.
- Make sure that the Swatches tab is active, and then select a bright shade of blue to contrast with the existing plot.
- Click OK.
- In the Properties window, set the Shape property to
Triangle.
- Set the Size property to

The external data will appear more clearly.
