Initializing and Running the Simulation

To initialize the solution and run the analysis:

The Residuals display will automatically be created and will show the solver's progress. The tabs at the top of the Graphics window make it possible to select any active display for viewing. Select the Velocity Plot at X = 0.38 display if you wish to observe the numerical solution development.

During the run it is possible to stop the process by clicking the  (Stop) button in the toolbar. If you do halt the simulation, it can be continued again later by clicking on the  (Run) button. If left alone, the simulation will continue until the stopping criteria are satisfied.

When the analysis is complete, the Velocity Plot at X = 0.38 display should resemble that shown below:


The experimental results compare reasonably well with the numerical data. Note that the greatest discrepancy is found in the recirculation zone downstream of the obstacle.

After the run is finished, save the simulation and then proceed to Visualizing the Results.
