Extracting the Solid Boundaries

The solid boundaries will be extracted using the same method as used for the fluid ones.

The Boundary Patches dialog will appear on the display. Surfaces belonging to the solid region will also be color coded according to their patch definition. All other surfaces will be translucent, as shown below:

The Boundary Patches dialog can be used to select a patch or patches and create a new boundary from the original. The following boundaries need to be created for the solid region:

Patch Number

Boundary Name

23,24,25

Outer cylinder wall

45,46

Symmetry

47,48,49

Inner cylinder wall

To define the first boundary in the table, do the following:

The completed panel is shown below:

A new boundary node will be created called Outer cylinder wall, which will appear in the simulation tree. The boundary patches will also be removed from the list and from the model display.

The completed list of boundaries for the solid region is shown below:

The original boundary for the solid region (Boundary 1) is now composed of surfaces that belong solely to the interface plane between the solid and fluid regions.

Next we will rename the original boundary and set the boundary types for each.
