The interface to the STAR-CCM+ software is a self-contained GUI-based single window with panes and sub-windows. Some of the GUI terminology is shown below in a screenshot of the GUI immediately after the application is launched.
The menu bar provides access to application-wide actions, with some of those more important actions being duplicated in the toolbar. Let the mouse hover over any of the buttons in the toolbar to see a short description of what that button does.
The STAR-CCM+ GUI is designed to reflect the object-based nature of the software and the simulation objects will be displayed in a tree in another tab of the Explorer pane, while properties of those objects are accessible in the Properties window. You will find more details about these and other aspects of the GUI later on in this tutorial.
