Setting the Axis Ticks and Labels

It is possible to focus on a region of the plot by customizing the tick marks and the tick labels, including:

The properties of the ticks can be changed by clicking on the Labels node. In the Properties window you may change the maximum and minimum tick values for the axes. It is also possible to finely tune the appearance of the axes using the expert properties category. The number of ticks shown along the axis can be changed by modifying the Tick Spacing property and the number of labels shown along the axis can be changed by modifying the Label Spacing property. For example if the minimum is -0.1 and the maximum is 1.0 and the tick spacing is 0.1 we can reduce the number of labels by changing the label spacing from 0.1 to 0.2. The precision of the label can be set by modifying the Precision property.

Labels Properties

Maximum

The maximum value shown on the axis.

Minimum

The minimum value shown on the axis.

Expert Properties

Font

The font family, font style and font size. Use the customizer to set this property (changing the text will have no effect). The property value is displayed using the selected font family, style and size.

Label Spacing

Sets the spacing between axis labels in the units of the axis. For example, with a Minimum of 0.0 and a Maximum of 8.0, a Label Spacing of 4.0 will place labels at 0.0, 4.0 and 8.0. By default, the grid lines are also placed at these points, but this can be overridden with the Spacing property of the Grid node. Setting this value to 0.0 hides the tick labels.

Precision

Controls the number of zeros that appear after the decimal place in the axis labels.

Tick Spacing

Sets the spacing between the minor tick lines in the units of the axis.
