Formulation

EBU models characterize the reacting flow system by a specified number of species and chemical reactions.(see Nomenclature and Sign Convention). Three variants of this type of model are currently available in STAR-CCM+:

The standard EBU model which assumes that the rate of reaction is dictated solely by the turbulent mixing time scale.

The hybrid kinetics/EBU model which assumes that the rate of reaction is also affected by the reaction rate from finite rate kinetics.

The combined time scale model which also makes the same assumption as the hybrid model.
