What Is Implicit Steady?

Solving the governing discretized equations implicitly in time results in a wider stability margin that permits Courant numbers greater than unity. This results in large local time-steps that can provide relatively fast convergence rates. The penalty for this, however, is a significantly larger storage requirement than the explicit integration scheme.
