- Multi-physics, continuum-based modeling. Models define fluid or solid continua, and the various regions of the solution domain are assigned to these continua.
- Separation of physics and mesh. In terms of simulation setup, the mesh is used only to define the topology of the problem.
- Generalized interfaces. Interfaces are a topological construct that allow communication between different regions in the solution domain. They are independent of the mesh, so that the underlying mesh may be either conformal or non-conformal.
