To view and analyze the results of a Compare Geometry operation:
At the end of a Compare Geometry operation, the Compare Geometry: Results dialog box appears. You can use this dialog box to view and analyze the results in several different ways.
The results of a geometry comparison are shown in a tree.
Under the heading Face Comparison are Unique Faces and Modified Faces.
Under the heading Volume Comparison are Difference Volumes (Material Removed and Material Added) and Common Volumes. Material removed is material removed from the reference part (or assembly). Material added is material added to the reference part (or assembly).
If the volume comparison encounters any errors while comparing
the two parts (or assemblies), the Volume
Comparison: Error Details dialog box appears. You can also access
this dialog box by right-clicking Volume
Comparison in the Compare Geometry:
Results dialog box, and selecting Error
Details. Or, you can right-click any node underneath Volume
Comparison and select Error Details.
The Volume Comparison: Error Details
dialog box displays the errors that were encountered.

Select the individual items (nodes) in the tree to highlight the corresponding faces or volumes in the graphics area. For example, select Material Removed to see a display of material removed from the reference part (or assembly) in the Volume Comparison of <Reference Document> and <Modified Document> window.
You can also save the results of the of the Volume Comparison window as a SolidWorks part document.
To open the Details of Modified Faces dialog box, right-click any Modified Faces Pair node in the results tree, and select Details.
This displays geometric properties of the two faces belonging to the pair. Use this box to compare the areas, perimeters, number of loops, number of edges, and geometry parameters specific to the type of faces compared.
Select Keep current face colors on close to save the colors of modified and unique faces. If this option is cleared, the original part colors appear when you close the Compare Geometry: Results dialog box.
Click Options to change Compare Geometry options.
To save the results of Compare Geometry in an HTML report:
Click Save Report.
The Compare Geometry: Save Report dialog box appears.
You can access the saved report at any time using the SolidWorks
Utilities Report
Manager.
View Synchronization
The views in the three graphics areas are synchronized. When you change the view in any graphics area, all three views update.
This feature is active when the Compare Geometry: Results dialog box is present. There is no explicit control to enable or disable view synchronization.
