If you used the Compare Documents utility to compare two part or assembly documents, you can also compare the volumes of the parts or assemblies.
The Compare volumes
option is only available after you run Compare
Documents.
To compare the volumes of two parts or assemblies:
In the Compare Documents: Results dialog box, select Compare volumes.
Click Compare.
At the end of the comparison:
A new window, Volume Comparison of <Reference Part (or assembly)> and <Modified Part (or assembly)> appears.
The two part or assembly windows and the volume comparison window are tiled. All other windows are minimized.
The results of the volume comparison are shown in a tree. Under the heading Volume Comparison are Difference Volumes (Material Removed and Material Added) and Common Volumes. Material removed is material removed from the reference part or assembly (Document1 in the Compare Documents: Select Documents dialog box). Material added is material added to the reference part or assembly.
Select the individual items (nodes) in the tree to highlight the corresponding faces or volumes in the graphics area. For example, select Material Removed to see a display of material removed from the reference part or assembly in the Volume Comparison of <Reference Part (or assembly)> and <Modified Part (or assembly)> window.
Click Options,
Color to change the volume colors.
Save the report, if desired.
After you compare the volumes of the two parts or
assemblies, Compare volumes is
unavailable; you cannot run the utility again unless you run Compare
Documents again.
