When the Measure tool is not
active, commonly-used measurements for selected entities appear in the
status
bar.Measures distance, angle, radius, and size of and between lines, points, surfaces, and planes in sketches, 3D models, assemblies, or drawings. When you measure the distance between two entities, the delta x, y, and z distances can also be displayed. When you select a vertex or sketch point, the x, y, and z coordinates are displayed. See Coordinate Systems.
When the Measure tool is not
active, commonly-used measurements for selected entities appear in the

To use the measure tool:
Click Measure 
(Tools toolbar) or Tools,
Measure.
The Measure dialog box appears.
The dialog box is a toolbar, which you can expand to display values by
clicking 
.
NOTE: While the Measure dialog box is in place, you can switch among different documents without closing the dialog box. The name of the currently active document displays in the title bar of the Measure dialog box. If you activate a document that has items already selected, the measurement information updates automatically.
Select the following options as needed:
Arc/Circle Measurements 
. Select to specify the distance to display when arcs or circles
are selected:

to display the Measure
Units/Precision dialog box, where you can specify to use custom
measurement units and precision.
Show XYZ Measurements

dY, and dZ
measurements between selected entities in the graphics area. Clear to
display only the minimum distance between selected entities.

a coordinate system:
Part Origin

coordinate system of the part or assembly.

Projected On

the distance between selected entities as projected on one of the following:

Select a face or plane in the graphics area or the FeatureManager design
tree.
The software calculates the projected distance (on the plane you select), and the normal distance (normal to the plane you select). Projection and Normal display in the Measure dialog box.
In Detached drawings, if the model is not loaded,
all measurements are reported as 2D projected data.
Select the items to measure.
Right-click an edge to use the Select
Other, Select Midpoint,
Select Tangency, Select
Loop, or Clear Selections
commands.
The selected items are highlighted and appropriate values are displayed in the graphics area. Expand the Measure dialog box to display values. New measurements update dynamically when you change selections.
If you select a curve, one of the measured values is chord length. Chord length is the distance between the end points of the curve.

If you select a single entity, the size of the entity (the length of an edge, the area of a face, and so on) is displayed. |
If you select two entities, the smallest distance between the entities is displayed. |
If a valid measurement cannot be performed with the selected entities, a message in the Measure dialog box states: Invalid combination of selected entities.
To clear an item from the current selections, click the item again in the graphics area.
To clear all selections, click a blank area in the graphics area, or right-click and select Clear Selections.
To temporarily turn off the measure function, right-click in the graphics area, and choose Select from the menu.
To turn the measure function back on, click inside the Measure dialog box.
Click Close
to close the dialog box.
