Bodies to Keep

The Bodies to Keep dialog box appears with the any cut feature that includes multibody parts. It allows you to select which bodies to keep and which bodies to eliminate as a result of the cut operation.

You can choose All bodies or Selected bodies. If the model has configurations, you can select the configurations to affect.

• All bodies. Cuts all bodies every time the feature rebuilds. If you add new bodies to the model that are intersected by the cutting tool, these new bodies are also rebuilt to include the cut.

• Selected bodies. Cuts only the bodies you select using the pointer that appears after choose Selected bodies. If you add new bodies to the model that are intersected by the cutting tool, you need to use Edit Feature to select those bodies, and to add them to the list of selected bodies. If you do not add the new bodies to the list of selected bodies, they remain intact.

The solid bodies you select are highlighted in the graphics area and listed in the Feature Scope box.

If you choose Selected bodies, you can also choose Auto-select under Feature Scope in the PropertyManager.

• Auto-select. The option is selected by default, and is available only if you choose Selected bodies. When you first create a model with multibody parts, the cutting tool automatically processes all the relevant intersecting parts. The Auto-select option is faster than the All bodies option, since it processes only the bodies on the initial list and does not rebuild the entire model.

• If you click Selected bodies and clear Auto-select, you must select the bodies you want to cut from the graphics area using the pointer .

To keep all bodies:

1. In the PropertyManager, under Feature Scope, select All bodies.

2. Click OK .

To keep selected bodies:

1. In the PropertyManager, under Feature Scope, choose Selected bodies to expand the dialog box.

2.  Use the pointer to select the bodies to keep and to list your choices for Solid Bodies to Affect .

3. Click OK .

4. Click OK in the dialog box.

To keep selected bodies and use Auto-select:

1. In the PropertyManager, under Feature Scope, chose Selected bodies and Auto-select.

2. Click OK to display the Bodies to Keep dialog box.

3. In the dialog box, select the check boxes of the bodies you want to keep.

4. Click OK.
